Bhagalpur riots:Bihar to reopen cases abt officers

The Bihar government has decided to reopen cases against police and civil officials indicted for their role in the Bhagalpur riots of 1989.No action has been taken against the indicted officials, including nine senior IAS and IPS officers, till date. Over 1,000 Muslims were killed in the month-long riots in Bhagalpur in 1989.According to sources, these officials, mostly policemen, were indicted by the probe panel that submitted its report in 1995.
